Pakistan, Italy should expand trade ties: Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo

Karachi: Italy’s ambassador to Pakistan Stefano Pontecorvo has said that Pakistan and Italy should further expand the trade ties.

In a farewell meeting with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, he said Italy considered Pakistan as a close friend and had been cooperating in all sectors.

He said that the size of Pakistan’s economy was around $300 billion but 80% of it was undocumented.

He pointed out that Pakistan’s GDP may go down due to the measures taken for documentation of the economy, however, in the long term it would help the country prosper. Ambassador Pontecorvo hoped that Pakistan shall become a hub of economic activity soon.

The Sindh CM appreciated the services rendered by Stefano Pontecorvo as ambassador to Pakistan.

Ambassador Pontecorvo, popular in Pakistan like a celebrity, said he will not forget Pakistan even after leaving Islamabad as the Italian envoy.
