Islamabad: Former President of Pakistan and President Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Asif Ali Zardari has congratulated the nation on the occasion of Independence Day.

“We reiterate our resolve to remain steadfast on the principles of freedom of the homeland, dignity of the nation and empowered parliament. This was the vision of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and we will fulfil her mission,” he said in a message.

Zardari said that the people of the country are once again suffering from severe difficulties. The people are facing inflation, unemployment and economic stagnation. In such a situation national unity and consensus is urgently needed. Asif Ali Zardari said that the time has come to end the attitude of humiliation, slander, hatred and intolerance.

The former president said that we should follow the philosophy and ideas of the founder of Pakistan while practicing democratic principles. Asif Zardari said that the founding chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had given equal rights to every citizen of the country by giving the constitution of 1973 to the nation. The 18th Amendment, which includes freedom of expression, is a charter between elected representatives of the people from all federating units in parliament and the federation.

The PPP is determined that the foreign policy of the parliament will be decided by the people of Pakistan. The youth needs opportunities and resources for development; the fruits of the state have to be provided to the weaker citizens as well. Pakistan will be made a country and society according to the vision of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and the dreams of Benazir Bhutto.
