Pakistan reports highest new coronavirus cases in three months

Islamabad: The daily coronavirus toll in Pakistan continues to rise as the country reported the highest number of new coronavirus cases in three and a half months during the last 24 hours (Sunday), showed the data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday morning.

After Oct 02, it was the first time that Pakistan reported 1500 plus new coronavirus cases in a day.

According to the statistics released by NCOC, the country registered 1,649 new coronavirus cases along with three virus-related deaths.

After the addition of three new deaths, the toll has now surged to 28,972, which represents a ratio of 2.2 percent.

The positivity ratio of the coronavirus cases in Pakistan reaches 3.66 percent, as 1,649 new coronavirus cases emerged in the last 24 hours after conducting 45,002 tests. It takes the total cases tally to 1,305,707.

The number of active cases in the country is 17,748 with 617 patients in critical condition.

There were 330 more recoveries recorded in the last 24 hours as the number of total recovered cases reached 1,258,987 with a 97% recovery rate.

Punjab, the most populous province of the country, has reported 561 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the provincial tally to 448,091 with 5,147 active cases. In Punjab, 1 more patient died of coronavirus as the death toll reached 13,080. With 91 new recoveries, 429,864 patients have recovered from the virus in Punjab so far.

Sindh has recorded 928 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the provincial tally to 487,668 with 11,161 active cases. There was no new death reported related to the deadly disease as the death toll in Sindh reached 7,681. With 161 new recoveries, 468,826 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recorded 42 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 181,757 with 606 active cases. The province reported 1 new virus-related death as the death toll reached 5,943. With 37 new recoveries, 175,208 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Balochistan recorded one new case as the tally reached 33,659 with 35 active cases. The province reported no new death as the death toll reached 367. With 1 new recovery, 33,257 patients have recovered from the virus in the province so far.

Islamabad has recorded 113 new cases during the last 24 hours taking the tally to 109,396 with 760 active cases. With no new death reported in the Federal Capital, the death toll remained 967. With 38 recoveries, the number of recovered patients is 107,669 in the federal capital so far.

Azad Jammu and Kashmir recorded 2 new cases during the last 24 hours as the tally reached 34,704 with 36 active cases. With one new death reported, the death toll reached 748. There were 2 new recoveries in the AJK as 33,920 patients have recovered so far from the virus.

Gilgit-Baltistan recorded two new cases during the last 24 hours, as the tally reached 10,432 with 3 active cases. With no new death reported in the province the death toll remains at 186. With no new patient recovered, the number of patients recovered from the deadly disease reached 10,243.
