President Xi Jinping, he said, played pivotal role in poverty elimination in China, he said, terming it ‘the greatest achievement in the history of mankind’.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan-China’s strategic partnership reflected the time-tested ties between the two ‘Iron brothers’ as both countries shared objectives for global peace, economic cooperation and wider regional connectivity.

Imran Khan said in an era of complex and profound changes at global and regional level, ‘all weather strategic cooperative partnership’ between Pakistan and China remained a strong anchor for peace, progress and prosperity.

He reiterated Pakistan’s support to China’s efforts to safeguard world peace, contribute to global development, and preserve international order.

In the wake of emerging global and regional environment, the prime minister said Pakistan had recalibrated its priorities from geo-politics to geo-economics. “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), complements Pakistan’s renewed efforts of this geo-economic shift with emphasis on economic integration and regional connectivity,” he said.

The prime minister said the abiding friendship with China and the CPEC complemented this vision of peace for themselves and for others, and shared prosperity and common development for their region and the world. “Pakistan and China are ‘iron brothers.’ We support each other on issues of our respective core interests,” he added.

The PM further said CPC’s mission of ‘Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese nation’ and PTI’s vision of ‘Naya (new) Pakistan’ reflected the respective aspirations of the people of our two countries. “Our two parties also share the spirit of struggle, commitment and fortitude,” he added.

Prime Minister Khan said that he formed the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf on the principles of accountability, transparency, meritocracy and Islamic welfare to break the vicious cycle of elite capture, corruption and nepotism. “Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf remains committed to its original mission of rule of law, equality and justice,” he maintained.

Dilating upon his government’s major achievements, he said the Ehsaas (care) Program launched by PTI-led government last year was one of the leading social protection programmes in Asia. In its second phase, they envisaged to provide social protection to 8 million of the country’s poorest citizens, he added.

The prime minister said they also made universal health coverage a priority in the health sector reforms. Under the ‘Ehsaas Sahulat (care facility)’ program, they aimed to provide free of cost health insurance initially to the families living below the poverty line, and subsequently to all remaining families, he further informed.

About, 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project, the PM said it reflected their commitment to countering environmental degradation and reversing biodiversity loss. “We are ready to contribute more than our share to protect this invaluable planet and help it heal from centuries of neglect,” he pronounced.

The premier said that founding father of Communist’s China Mao Zedong had guided the Chinese people to attain national dignity.

“For decades, CPC’s spirit instilled new vigour and hope beyond China’s borders. It inspired people of the colonised nations and contributed to the end of colonialism. CPC’s astonishing success rests in the people-centric approach of its development philosophy. It remained committed to serving the people and prioritised their well-being,” he said.

The premier said that Pakistan had shifted its focus from geopolitics to geo-economics and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) reflected that effort.

“Our friendship with China and CPEC complement  vision of peace for our citizens and for others and shared prosperity and common development for our region and the world.

“In an era of complex and profound changes at global and regional level, our all-weather strategic-cooperative partnership remains a strong anchor for peace, progress and prosperity,” he stressed. He hoped that bilateral friendship would strengthen further in the year 2021.

Imran Khan hoped that under the wise and dynamic leadership of President Xi Jinping, China would continue its march towards the ‘Great Rejuvenation’ of the Chinese nation. He also appreciated CPC’s role in the nurturing of Pakistan-China friendship.
