Pakistan wants to connect CPEC with Central Asian States: Information Minister

Islamabad: Pakistani Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has said that Pakistan wanted to connect the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with Central Asian States as per the economic vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

In a statement, the minister who is in Dushanbe to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit as team member of Prime Minister Imran Khan, maintained that the government was stressing on the inclusion of Central Asian states even before the current situation in Afghanistan. “Connecting all Central Asian States with rail and road network will enhance connectivity in the region,” he remarked. The minister hoped that situation in Afghanistan will be better. “He said that the international cooperation with the Afghan authorities will benefit the entire world,” he opined.

In a relevant statement, on Thursday, Balochistan Governor Syed Zahoor Agha said CPEC would bring progress and prosperity for the people of province. “The government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken concrete steps for uplift of Baluchistan,” he stated.

He lauded the role of Prime Minister Imran Khan for taking special interest for development of the area. He was of the opinion that budget allocated under the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), should be spent on constructing hospitals and dams to fulfill water and irrigation requirement of the area.
