Islamabad: The government has ordered to fortify security for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, officials said

The Pakistani Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) had earlier warned about the instability in the Larkana Division of the Sindh province due to the law and order situation.

The LEAs feared that the situation could create security issues and slow down work on the CPEC projects in the Sindh province.

In a letter addressed to the Sindh government’s Home Department by the LEAs, a surge in the crime rate was informed about, particularly in the Larkana Division, according to the spokespersons of the Sindh and the federal government.

The federal and the Sindh provincial governments have taken notice of the situation and directed to provide every possible security to the CPEC projects and the workers, the government spokesperson said.

The CPEC is presently into its second phase and is expected to provide jobs to thousands of Pakistanis besides pushing up the development level.
