Muzaffarabad: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Tanveer Ilyas has been elected unopposed as the 14th Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The session of Azad Kashmir Assembly session headed by speaker Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq was scheduled to convene today at 10:30 am but it commenced very late.

The session was called to elect the new Leader of the House and the united opposition boycotted the election process of the new Prime Minister.

The slot fell vacant after PTI members filed a no-confidence motion against Abdul Qayyum Niazi who later resigned on April 14. PTI chairman Imran Khan had nominated Sardar Tanveer Ilyas for the post.
