Pakistan allocates Rs 300 million for Protection and Up-gradation of Pakistan-China Phase-I OFC Project

Islamabad: The federal government has allocated Pakistani Rs 300 million each for Protection and Up-gradation of Pakistan-China Phase-I Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) Project for establishment of Cross border connectivity project Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The government also allocated Rs 300 million for up-gradation of Existing Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) Based Backhaul Microwave with Internet Protocol (IP) Based Backhaul Microwave Network in AJK and GB and Upgradation of Transmission Network and Replacement of Optical Fiber Cable in AJK and GB, said an official statement.

The allocation of new schemes included Rs 500 million for Establishment of Four Knowledge Park.

The federal government also allocated Rs 719 million for establishment of Technology Park Development Project in Islamabad during the current financial year.

The Park will encourage innovative solutions and provide futuristic entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth of Pakistan said an official of the ministry of Information Technology (IT).

The government has earmarked Rs 6330.696 million in the Public Sector development Program (PSDP) for the financial year 2022-23 for ongoing and new schemes of the Information Technology and Telecom Division.

Rs 5380.696 million has been allocated for 31 ongoing schemes while the allocation for five new schemes is Rs 950 million.
