Bilawal Bhutto holds important meeting with PPP Germany President Syed Zahid Abbas Shah in Berlin

Berlin: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held an important meeting with PPP Germany President Syed Zahid Abbas Shah over the weekend.

The two discussed the overall political situation as well as the party organization in Germany. Bilawal Bhutto expressed satisfaction with the party’s strength and progress in Germany under the leadership of Syed Zahid Abbas Shah, who has been associated with the party all his life.

Bilawal Bhutto advised the PPP Germany chapter to forge unity and promote the party’s narrative in the important European country. He appreciated Syed Zahid Abbas Shah’s commitment to the party and his leadership role in Germany.

On this occasion, Syed Zahid Abbas Shah said that the PPP Germany chapter was united and had been promoting the party’s policy across the country.

He said the PPP Germany was a strong pillar of the PPP and had always led from the front.  Syed Zahid Abbas Shah recalled his earlier meetings with Bilawal Bhutto and vowed to make the PPP Germany chapter even stronger.

The PPP Germany President also inquired about the health of PPP Co-Chairman was expressed satisfaction over the recovery.

Bilawal Bhutto, on the invitation of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, undertook an official visit to Germany on 6-7 October 2022. During his stay in Berlin, Foreign Minister held delegation-level talks with his German counterpart. The two leaders reviewed the whole gamut of bilateral relations and discussed regional and international issues of common interest.

Underscoring the high importance Pakistan attaches to its longstanding ties of amity and cooperation with Germany, the Foreign Minister reaffirmed keen desire to further strengthen the multifaceted bilateral cooperation, particularly in the fields of trade, investment, education and energy.

Thanking Germany for its substantial support to flood relief efforts, the Foreign Minister said that the cataclysmic devastation caused by the flash floods in Pakistan had underlined the need for working together to address common challenges such as climate change and food security.

The delegation talks were followed by a joint press briefing that covered a whole range of issues from bilateral cooperation to regional and global issues including Jammu and Kashmir and Afghanistan. Germany also announced additional 10 million € for flood relief assistance.

The Foreign Minister also met the President of the upper house of German parliament, Bodo Ramelow. They discussed ways to enhance parliamentary exchanges, deliver assistance to flood affectees in Pakistan, the situation in Afghanistan, and Germany’s continued support for Pakistan’s GSP Plus status.

The Foreign Minister also highlighted the potential for using digital technologies to showcase Pakistan’s tourism sites and rich cultural heritage while inaugurating a “Digital Tourism Corner” at the Pakistan Embassy in Berlin.
