Rome: Has Italy been on your mind? Then, you’re in luck because the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in northeast Italy will reimburse your inbound train rides and offer a free or discounted pass to select attractions until May 31, 2023.

The region borders Austria and Slovenia. The reimbursement fees apply to these four cities: Trieste, Udine, Grado and Lignano Sabbiadoro.

What’s there to do over there? For one, Grado is known for its beaches and wine so drink up!

The complimentary pass or FGV card also provides free or discounted access to public transport and select museums and guided tours to historical sites. The pass is valid for 48 hours.

The catch? Travellers have to stay at least two nights in a participating hotel or apartment.

Bookings must also be made on the website, turismofvg.it/trenitalia and booked at least five days before departure.

Trains must also arrive at any of five stations via the Trenitalia line (Latisana-Lignano-Bibione, Cervignano-Aquileia-Grado, Trieste Airport, Trieste Centrale, or Udine). The promo is not valid for Easter and Italian bank holidays.
