Nawaz Sharif knocks SC for early hearing

Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) supremo Nawaz Sharif Monday once again knocked the doors of Supreme Court for early hearing of his petition against the Islamabad High Court decision to dismiss his bail petition in the Al-Azizia reference. The petition filed by the former prime minister’s counsel stated that earlier a petition had been filed requesting that the hearing be fixed on March 6, however, the Registrar Office had rejected the plea for early hearing. The petitioner requested the court to fix the hearing in the current week as Nawaz Sharif’s health has deteriorated. IHC on February 25 dismissed Nawaz Sharif’s bail petition which was filed on medical grounds. The IHC said that none of the medical reports on Nawaz Sharif’s condition suggested that his continued jail sentence would in any way be harmful to his life.
