Bilawal Bhutto vows to complete unfinished business on Charter of Democracy

London: Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met at an Iftar dinner in London and exchanged views on the national issues.

Bilawal Zardari was accompanied by PPP leaders Sherry Rehman, Naveed Qamar and Qamar Zaman Kaira. While, Nawaz’s both sons – Hassan and Hussain – and PML-N leader Ishaq Dar were also present on this occasion.

A statement issued by the PPP Media Cell stated that Nawaz and Bilawal met to discuss ways forward after a constitutional victory for democracy, the rule of law and supremacy of the parliament.

Both leaders agreed that they had accomplished a great deal whenever they worked together. It was resolved that at a crucial crossroads in the history the imperative to work together to rebuild the country was seriously needed.

The agenda included completing the unfinished business left on the Charter of Democracy, as well as a discussion on the broad roadmap for the future with consensus of all democratic forces.

It was also agreed that high level summitry is needed to brainstorm the path ahead for a new charter.

Immediate goals include repairing the rot across the board. There was a strong realisation that the people of Pakistan have suffered greatly at the disastrous economic mismanagement and unprecedented incompetence of the PTI government, all of which needs to be addressed and repaired.

Joint goals will focus on reversing in phases the drastic economic slide that Imran Khan has taken the country down on, the terrible blunders and self-serving trade-offs on foreign policy, as well as healing the deep scars from assaults made on the country’s democratic system.
