Washington: Pakistan’s Ambassador to United States Ali Jahangir Siddiqui on Monday tendered resign from his office. New Pakistani envoy to US Dr Asad Majid is expected to take charge. After the development, Ali Jahangir stated that he left the Pak-US ties in the conducive atmosphere. “Two countries are getting engaged in contacts at the high level.” The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government in October had announced that it had decided to remove political appointees from key positions in the world. Five ambassadors who were appointed at key world capitals during the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz)’s tenure left their work earlier. Ali Jahangir is sixth persons of the last government who left the work as Envoy. Pakistan’s envoy to Canada Tariq Azim, ambassador to Saudi Arabia Husam Bin Sidiq also took charge. Three other envoys also handed over their charges to their second-in-command at the respective missions. Ali Jahangir faces cases with regard to the role of his company in the alleged manipulation of shares that resulted in damage to the treasury.
