FIA challenges ATC decision on Imran Farooq murder case

Islamabad: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Sunday challenged the anti-terrorism court’s (ATC) decision of not giving more time to the investigation team for collecting evidence in the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq. Reportedly, the FIA has filed an application at the Islamabad High Court (IHC), seeking an extension of three months for further investigation into the matter. The application mentioned that the department was in contact with the British government and a legal opportunity was required by the court, so the case could be presented in a compressive manner with all evidences. The ATC and the accused in the application have been made defendants. Earlier, the ATC had rejected the formal request made by the FIA.
