New Pakistan envoy to take over on January 9


Washington: Pakistan’s new ambassador-designate to the United States, Dr Asad Majid, will take charge of the office on Wednesday, January 9. Dr Majeed is a career diplomat and was serving as Pakistan’s ambassador to Tokyo. He replaced Ali Jehangir Siddiqui who was nominated by the previous government days before its term ended but stayed here for more than eight months from May 9 to December 25, 2018. He served as Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires ad interim to the United States from May 2013 to January 2014 and as Deputy Chief of Mission from March 2012 to September 2015.
