Islamabad: Afghan Special Envoy Umer Daudzai held a meeting with Jamat Islami Amir, Sirajul Haq on Friday to deliberate steps for normalcy in Afghanistan. “A peaceful Afghanistan is essential for the neighboring Pakistan and the regional peace,” stated Haq. He said the key to peace in Afghanistan lies in the hands of the Afghan people. “Afghan government should take the opposition parties in confidence over the peace process in the country.” The envoy reached Islamabad, earlier on Tuesday for an important visit. He also met Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi who assured him that Pakistan would make all-out efforts to seek an end to the conflict in the neighbouring country. Afghan Envoy Umer lauded Pakistan’s tireless efforts for bring peace and tranquility in Afghanistan and in the region. A new era of dialogue on political facilitation in Afghanistan and partial pullout of the US troops is expected to begin after the new impetus to peace process in the country. US President Donald Trump had recently announced calling back a significant number of US troops from Afghanistan.
