PAL celebrates 12th death anniversary of renowned poet Ahmed Faraz

Islamabad: Ahmed Faraz’s message in his poetry is humanity and love. Along with the country, he raised his voice in his poetry for the oppressed Kashmiris, helpless Palestinians and people of Africa all over the world.

Ahmed Faraz was sincere with these principles, he lived his life with a special purpose. Ahmed Faraz has played a constructive role in society. The message in his poetry is to stand firm against injustice and oppression.

He never backed down from his ideals. These views express by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said on the occasion of Ahmed Faraz’s death anniversary.

On the occasion of the 12th anniversary of Ahmad Faraz, the first head of the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) and a renowned poet of the world, a wreath was laid and Fateha was offered at the grave of Ahmad Faraz under the auspices of the PAL.

The officers and staff members of the PAL along with writers participated led by the Chairman, PAL, Dr Yousuf Khushk. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz also attended. Dr Yousuf Khushk said that Ahmed Faraz was a trendsetter poet. He nurtured the creative generation for decades with his poetry.

The distinguishing feature of Ahmad Faraz’s poetry was that he was equally popular at the poets and public level. The depth and depth of consciousness, as well as the element of immediate understanding, is prominent in his poetry. The reader of his poetry would surely enjoy it. On this occasion, Dr Yousuf Khushk said that Ahmed Faraz was a trendsetter poet. He nurtured the creative generation for decades with his poetry.

Later, a short prayer session for Ahmad Faraz held in which Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz and Saadi Faraz were the chief guests.

The meeting was attended by writers and other friends. Dr Yousuf Khushk Chairman, PAL, Hafeez Khan, Abdullah Jan Abid, Hameed Shahid, Ayesha Masood and Mahmood Al Hassan addressed the gathering. Hassan Abbas Raza paid poetic homage to Ahmad Faraz. Mehboob Zafar moderated the session.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz while talking on the occasion of prayer session said that if society does not value its celebrities, then tall personalities are less born in that society.

In our society, no poet, writer gets the place he deserves, Ahmed Faraz was fortunate to have received such acceptance and love from the people at every level. It is a matter of great happiness that Ahmed Faraz received love, respect and esteem from all sections of the country. He said that Ahmad Faraz founded the PAL.

Now this institution needs to work hard to achieve its objectives and goals so that this institution can play its full role in the promotion of literature according to the vision of Ahmad Faraz. It is hoped that Dr Yousuf Khushk will run the PAL on its original purpose.
