CPEC giving Gilgit Baltistan a new look: Chief Minister

Islamabad: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is developing Gilgit Baltistan and giving it a modern look, Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Muhammad Khalid Khurseed has said.

In a meeting with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin here, the CM said with the help of Iron Brother China and Pakistan’s federal government the GB will make steady progress.

The Chief Minister GB and his team also discussed budget proposals during the meeting, said an official statement.

While appreciating the active participation of the federating units, the Finance Minister reiterated that the consultative process for Budget making process will bring out positive outcomes and lead the way for concerted efforts towards all-inclusive growth, the statement said.

Finance Minister Gilgit Baltistan Javed Manwa and Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan Asif Daman also accompanied the Chief Minister during the meeting.

The Federal Finance Minister welcomed the Chief Minister GB and his team and stated that the development of Gilgit Baltistan was the key priority of the government under the GB Development Package.

He said the government intended to undertake several projects for hydel power generation, enhancing tourism connectivity and imparting vocational training and granting scholarships for the youth under the government’s initiates and the CPEC.

The Finance Minister affirmed full support and facilitation for the aforesaid Package on the occasion, the official statement said.
