Pakistan and China to jointly provide security to CPEC projects: Defence Minister

Islamabad: Pakistan and China will Both work together to achieve the common goal of providing security to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects, Defence Minister of Pakistan Pervaiz Khattak said.

In a meeting with his Chinese Counterpart General Wei Fenghe in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Khattak said friendship with China was the Corner-stone of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy.

Both of them condemned the dastardly attack in Dasu on May 14 in which nine Chinese nationals and three Pakistanis lost their lives, said an official statement released here.

Khattak said the Historical and time-tested ties between the two countries are moving from strength to strength.

Both Defence Ministers shared their perspectives on regional geo-political scenario and agreed to work closely to promote a stable regional environment and counter common challenges and threats such as terrorism.

Both the sides agreed to work together to achieve the common goal of providing security to China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects and condemned the dastardly attacks on personnel involved in Dasu Dam Project.

They expressed satisfaction over the ongoing defence collaboration between the two countries and especially noted the mutual assistance provided during the Covid 19 Pandemic.
