Islamabad: Former President of Pakistan and President Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, Asif Ali Zardari has said that all citizens living in the country are equally entitled to the fruits of the state.

In a message on the Minority Day, he said that Quaid-e-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s Pakistan has to be a safe country for minorities.

Zardari said that the 1973 constitution guarantees equal rights to minorities in Pakistan. Our great religion Islam teaches freedom of religion and belief to every human being. No One should be allowed to impose their opinion on others under the guise of religion. He said that the Pakistan Peoples Party will continue to protect the rights of minorities.

Zardari said that minority representation in both houses of parliament needs to be increased. The role of non-Muslim citizens for the independence and development of Pakistan is exemplary. Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto gave constitutional rights to minorities.
