Sindh govt looks forward to Chinese investment in agriculture, other sectors: CM’s aide

Karachi: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led Sindh provincial government looks forward to Chinese investment in agriculture, cultivation, irrigation, cold storage and other sectors, an aide of Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said.

Advisor to CM Sindh for Agriculture Manzoor Hussain Wassan told Chinese Consul General (CG) of China in Karachi Li Bijian, Vice Consul Deng Haixiao and Vice General Manager of China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) Dai Bao that the province was open to investment from China in different sectors.

During the meeting here, the Advisor lauded the development attained by the China in every sector of the life and expressed interest to get benefits from their expertise and experience for further growth of agri-economics.

Wassan welcomed the Chinese support for sustainable improvement of agriculture trends towards modern lines in Sindh. “We are using modern methods for the storage and value addition of Agri produce,” he added.

The CM’s aide appreciated that the Chinese experience in socio-economic development was much more precious.

Wassan underlined that the Sindh government was striving to boost agriculture produce through use of modern means of agriculture, machinery and research methodology.

The Advisor mentioned that Sindh province had excellent export quality of mango, guava, dates, red chilies and other fruits and vegetables.

The Chinese CG appreciated the efforts of Sindh government and said that China will continue collaboration in energy, agriculture and other sectors. “CPEC (China-Pakistan Economic Corridor) is an important project of relations between China and Pakistan,” he emphasized. Wassan presented gifts of Sindh’s traditional Ajrak (shawl) and Cap to the distinguished guests. He also presented Khairpur’s traditional dates to the guests.

After the meeting, Li Bijian tweeted: “Pleased to meet H.E. Manzoor Hussain Wassan, Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister on Agriculture, along with representative from CMEC company. Agricultural cooperation projects in Sindh such as chili and seasame planting were discussed, which will greatly benefit Sindhi farmers!”
