MQM surprises government, announces support to opposition

Islamabad: In a major setback, the MQM-P has opted to abandon the ruling PTI and join the joint Opposition in opposing Prime Minister Imran Khan’s in the no-confidence vote.

With the MQM-P’s unexpected attack on Imran Khan before to the no-confidence motion, the government is now supported by only 164 members of Parliament. Meanwhile, the unified Opposition has grown to 177 members.

Taking to Twitter, MQM-P leader Faisal Subzwari wrote: “The agreement between the joint Opposition and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan has been finalised. After the ratification of the proposed agreement by the PPP CEC, MQM Pakistan Coordinating Committee, the details will be revealed before the media tomorrow at 4pm.”

The PPP Chairman also confirmed that the united Opposition and MQM have reached an agreement. He tweeted: “Rabta committee MQM & PPP CEC will ratify the said agreement. We will then share details with the media in a press conference tomorrow IA. Congratulations Pakistan.”
