Imran Khan makes first appearance after unceremonious removal

Islamabad: Former PM Imran Khan held his fist political meeting on Sunday at his Bangigala residence after being removed as the prime minister of Pakistan as his rule came to an unceremonious end.

PTI’s Shahbaz Gill posted a photograph, which he indicated was from the meeting, and it shows Imran Khan sitting on the far end of a conference table as the PTI core committee deliberates the party’s next strategy.

Imran Khan wore sunglasses as he chaired the core committee meeting in a conference room at his residence.

The seriousness of the situation is reflected on the face of almost every member of the meeting.

Some social media users expressed doubt over the authenticity and date of the photograph. However, the image has been corroborated from other sources as well.

The meeting decided to withdraw its lawmakers from the National Assembly and launch a movement against the upcoming government, which is likely to be headed by PML-N’s Shehbaz Sharif.

Meanwhile, the former prime minister has issued a statement on Twitter. “Pakistan became an independent state in 1947; but the freedom struggle begins again today against a foreign conspiracy of regime change. It is always the people of the country who defend their sovereignty & democracy,” he said.

Until Sunday afternoon, Imran Khan’s Twitter bio still introduced him as ‘prime minister of Pakistan.’
