3000 China-funded ‘Panda Packs’ distributed among Pakistani schoolchildren

Tharparkar: Pakistan Red Crescent (PRC) Sindh Branch in collaboration with the China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA) have distributed 3000 “Panda Pack” schoolbags among Pakistani students of 56 government-run schools in District Tharparkar.

The panda packs distribution was supervised by Muhammad Sajjad, Disaster Management Manager, PRC-Sindh, and Zulqarnain Wash Officer, PRC- National Headquarters in Islamabad.

Apart from stationery, lunch boxes, geometry boxes, and practical books for exercises have been provided in the Panda Pack to benefit children in rural areas.

Speaking at the event, PRC-Sindh Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem said that around 48 percent population of Sindh lived in rural areas, where educational facilities were not up to the mark.

He maintained that the distribution of school bags among students of the Tharparkar District was a highly welcome initiative. He added that China has always been on the forefront in helping Pakistan in the time of need.

The Secretary also thanked China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation and the Red Cross Society of China for the generously and interest in Pakistan.

In his speech, Disaster Management Manager PRC-Sindh Muhammad Sajjad appreciated the cooperation of the District and Taluka education Officers in distributing these Panda Pack school bags in Taluka Diplo, Islamkot, and Mithi in the Tharparkar District.

He mentioned the close friendship between Pakistan and China and highlighted that China had been especially investing in the Pakistani education sector to promote the literacy and lift the education standard.

Sajjad expressed the confidence that with China’s help, the far-flung areas of Pakistan will get the right to quality education.

He contended that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was developing Pakistan in all sectors and education was one of them.

Sajjad hoped that China will continue to help the downtrodden areas in Pakistan for uplift under the CPEC.
