Bilawal Bhutto sacks Sardar Latif Khosa as PLF President

Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Tuesday sacked the party’s senior leader Sardar Latif Khosa as president of the People’s Lawyer Forum (PLF) after his remarks against the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) coalition government.

The PPP Secretary General Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari has now been assigned the additional responsibility of the position.

The PPP Chairman Secretariat also released a notice via Jameel Soomro, his political secretary.

Media reports claim that Khosa’s recent interviews and criticism of the coalition government, particularly the PML-N on judicial affairs, did not sit well with the PPP leadership.

He consistently criticized the coalition government’s policies and actions.

Khosa had publicly disagreed with the decision when the government, which was led by the Pakistan Democratic Movement, introduced the measure restricting the chief justice’s authority in the parliament. He claimed that the Supreme Court-related law “gags the judiciary.”

The former governor said at a press conference outside the Supreme Court that the timing of the Supreme Court (Practice and Procedure) Bill, 2023, was incorrect.

Khosa argued that the opinions of those who did not sit on the Supreme Court’s bench could not be considered in the judgment on the dispute surrounding the court’s March 1 ruling.
