PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party leader Liaquat Shabab breathed his last at a private health facility here on Tuesday, his family said.

Shabab was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Noor Gul Baba area of Nowshera Cantonment.

Family members said that Mr Shabab, a former provincial minister for excise and taxation, was shifted to Qazi Medical Complex, Nowshera, on Monday after he suffered a heart attack and brain hemorrhage. He was later shifted to a health facility in the provincial capital when his condition deteriorated, where he died.

The deceased had started his political career as a student leader when he joined Peoples Students Federation in 1981.

In 2008, Mr Shabab had won provincial assembly seat and became the provincial minister for excise and taxation.

He also remained PPP’s president for Peshawar division.
