Historical importance of ancient Silk Road highlighted

Islamabad: Speakers at a cultural forum has emphasized the historical importance of the ancient Silk Road.

This road served as a vital connection between civilizations, transcending geographical boundaries and fostering cultural interactions.

The forum, titled “Exhibition of CPEC achievements over the decade,” was organized by the Pakistan-China Institute in collaboration with the China Study Center of COMSATS University.

It featured screenings of documentaries showcasing Chinese culture, Chinese and Pakistani cultural dances, and Gilgit-Baltistan Talwar Dance. The forum also included various exhibitions, such as Language Learning & Cultural Exhibition, Art Exhibition, and displays highlighting the progress and impact of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects on Pakistan’s economy and local communities’ quality of life.

The Director of the China Study Centre, Dr Tahir Mumtaz Awan, emphasized the forum’s significance in promoting cultural exchanges and the enduring legacy of the ancient Silk Road.

Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, in her keynote speech, praised the Chinese and Pakistani students for their captivating cultural performances and highlighted the historical importance of the Silk Road in facilitating trade, cultural exchange, and the transmission of ideas and beliefs.

Former ambassador Masood Khalid also discussed the captivating Gandhara civilization and the historical significance of the Silk Road to Pakistan.
