Chinese CG emphasizes robustness of China-Pakistan relations in international collaboration

Karachi: Yang Yundong, the Consul General of the Peoples’ Republic of China in Karachi, haa emphasized the robustness of China-Pakistan relations in international collaboration.

He highlighted the close cooperation within the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and their involvement in trilateral dialogues with Afghanistan.

During a meeting with the Karachi Council on Foreign Relations (KCFR) at Quaid-e-Azam House Museum, Yundong said that Pakistan and China are fully committed to implementing President Xi Jinping’s proposed Global Development Initiatives (GDI), Global Security Initiatives (GSI), and Global Civilization Initiatives (GCI). This commitment aims to advance global governance towards a more just and equitable direction.

He outlined four key areas for progress between the two countries, which include promoting people-to-people exchanges, advancing the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), enhancing cooperation in industries and agriculture, and strengthening communication and storytelling about China-Pakistan cooperation.

Yundong emphasized the essential role played by think tanks like KCFR in shaping the image of China-Pakistan cooperation. These think tanks would promote joint research, personnel exchanges, publication sharing, and organizing events to infuse more positive energy into their collaboration.

He highlighted the historical ties between China and Pakistan, noting their geographical proximity and the ancient Silk Road that connected their peoples over 2,000 years ago.

Pakistan has been a strong supporter of China, including its rightful seat restoration at the UN, and high-level visits between leaders have strengthened friendly cooperation over the years, he added.

The CG praised the significance of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has become a symbol of fruitful cooperation between the two nations.

Over the past decade, he mentioned, CPEC had brought substantial investment and job opportunities to Pakistan, fostering a strong and enduring friendship between China and Pakistan.

Upon the CG’s arrival at Quaid -e-Azam House Museum, the Chairperson of KCFR, Mrs. Nadira Panjwani, warmly welcomed him and highlighted the organization’s objectives and activities in promoting diplomatic and economic relations with foreign countries.

She also mentioned how the cornerstone of Pak-China relations now centers around economic cooperation through CPEC, while also acknowledging joint military exercises and defense technology collaborations.
