Islamabad: Pakistan has said that it was committed to ‘One China’ policy.

“Pakistan’s position on the Taiwan question is consistent and principled. We adhere to a One China policy and regard Taiwan Chinese Taipei as an inalienable part of the People’s Republic of China,” Foreign Office spokespersonMumtaz Zahra Baloch said at a news briefing here.

To another question, she maintained that Pakistan did not make any formal request to join BRICS group of nations.

About the BRICS summit in Johannesburg, Baloch remarked that Pakistan will examine the latest developments and make a determination about its future engagement with the Group.

She mentioned that Pakistan was an ardent supporter of multilaterism and as a member of several multilateral organizations it has always played an important role for global peace and development.

“Pakistan shall continue its efforts for fostering the spirit of international cooperation and revitalization of inclusive multilateralism,” she underlined.
