Pakistan and China reaffirm strong commitment to further enhance cooperation

Islamabad: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their strong commitment to further enhance their already robust cooperation during a meeting between Sarfraz Ahmad Bugti, the Pakistani Minister for Interior and his Chinese counterpart, Wang Xiao Hong, who serves as a Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, State Councillor, and Minister for Public Security.

This bilateral meeting took place in Lianyungang City as part of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum 2023, said an official statement issued here.

During this meeting, the Pakistani Interior Minister of Pakistan expressed gratitude in response to the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Pakistani delegation by the Chinese government. He emphasized that China remains a steadfast and unwavering strategic ally, appreciating China’s consistent and unconditional support throughout various challenges faced by Pakistan.

Bugti also provided an overview of the measures taken by Pakistan to ensure the comprehensive security of Chinese citizens working on diverse projects aimed at improving Pakistan’s future.

In response, the Chinese Minister commended Pakistan’s resolute stance and its various initiatives to counter threats such as terrorism, drug-related issues, and risks to the safety of Chinese nationals and installations in Pakistan.

He expressed optimism about the potential for Pakistan and China to expand their collaboration through capacity building and joint efforts to thwart the malicious intentions of hostile elements.

Sarfraz Bugti extended gratitude to his Chinese counterparts for their understanding of these challenges and their valuable assistance in addressing them.
