Karachi: The Department of International Relations at the University of Karachi hosted a book launch event for ‘Belt and Road Initiative: Emerging World Order,’ authored by the esteemed scholar, Professor Dr Talat Ayesha Wizarat.

At the event, Dr Naeem Ahmed, Chairman of the Department of International Relations, emphasized the potential of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in addressing regional challenges through connectivity projects.

He highlighted CPEC’s role in Pakistan’s economic development and acknowledged China’s remarkable growth in various domains.

Dr. Naeem Ahmed commended Dr. Talat A. Wizarat for her valuable contribution to literature and the positive reception of her book among guests and participants.

Guest speaker Dr. Rizwan Zeb, a Professor at Air War College, discussed the book’s focus on understanding the BRI’s potential to shape a new global economic and political order.

Dr. Talat A. Wizarat raised concerns about terrorism posing a significant threat to the BRI and stressed its potential benefits for common people, including job opportunities and investments.

She highlighted the importance of people-centric development and the adversaries attempting to hinder BRI and CPEC progress through hybrid warfare.

Dr. Shaista Tabbassum, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, praised the book for offering a unique perspective from Pakistan on the BRI and its implications for China and Pakistan.
