PM Kakar concludes successful visit to China

ISLAMABAD, October 21: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq has concluded a successful visit to China.

The PM landed back home after his five-day official visit on the invitation of President Xi Jinping.

During the visit, the PM addressed the Third Belt and Road Forum held in Beijing. On the sidelines of the Forum, he also met with the leaders of different countries, including Russia, Kenya and Sri Lanka.

He held meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang as well as the senior leadership of the Communist Party of China and discussed the ways forward to deepen bilateral relations.

Heads of various Chinese companies also called on the prime minister wherein the two sides explored opportunities to strengthen trade and investment cooperation.

On last leg of the visit, the Prime Minister visited Urumqi and met Member of Politburo of CPC’s Central Committee Ma Xingrui, besides addressing the students at Xinjiang University.

During the visit, the two sides signed 20 agreements and memorandums of understanding, covering cooperation on the BRI, infrastructure, mining, industry, green and low-carbon development, health, space cooperation, digital, development cooperation and export of agricultural products to China.

Earlier, Caretaker Prime Minister Kakar appreciated the role of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in cementing the Pakistan-China relationship and fostering greater understanding between the two countries.

The PM, in a meeting with Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) Liu Jianchao in Beijing, also lauded CPC’s contribution in the development of modern China.

He noted that the goodwill between the peoples of Pakistan and China was at the heart of the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
Both Prime Minister Kakar and Minister Liu discussed promotion of people-to-people contacts, including exchanges between parliaments, political parties, academia, media, youth, women and think tanks.

These exchanges would help advance the exceptional friendship between Pakistan and China that endures from generation to generation, they viewed.

Liu stated that the prime minister’s visit to China was in keeping with the time-honoured tradition of the special friendship between Pakistan and China. He reiterated IDCPC’s commitment to further strengthen Pakistan-China relations.
