Pakistan National Pavilion opened at Sichuan Agriculture Expo in Chengdu

Islamabad: Pakistan National Pavilion has been opened at the Sichuan Agriculture Expo in Chengdu.

Pakistan’s Ambassador in China Moinul Haque officially opened the Pakistan National Pavilion.

The Pavilion’s purpose is to introduce the splendid tourist destinations within Pakistan and showcase various agricultural products the nation produces. The Pavilion featured the participation of over a dozen Pakistani companies, each presenting their agricultural goods. This exhibition attracted significant attention from the Expo’s attendees.

Prior to this event, the Ambassador took part in the Opening Ceremony of the 9th Sichuan Agriculture Expo, where Pakistan held the esteemed title of “Country of Honour.”

During his speech at the opening ceremony, the Ambassador emphasized the robust bilateral relationship between Pakistan and China, rooted in political trust, strategic communication, and pragmatic collaboration.

He underscored the close ties between Pakistan and Sichuan, which include partnerships between sister provinces and cities. Pakistan’s involvement in the Expo is expected to energize the ongoing collaboration between Pakistan and China in the agricultural sector. Recently, the two countries finalized five significant agriculture SPS (Sanitary and Phytosanitary) protocols, granting Pakistan access to a market worth US$30 billion encompassing cooked beef, dairy products, chili, cherries, and various livestock items.

This initiative aims to enhance Pakistan’s exports to China and is poised to contribute to the country’s trade endeavors. The Sichuan Agriculture Expo holds the distinction of being the largest agricultural exposition in western China, catering to an audience of over 400 million people. This year’s Expo boasts the participation of more than 2,000 exhibitors and anticipates over 200,000 visitors, the embassy of Pakistan in China said in a statement.

This inaugural ceremony saw the presence of notable figures such as Hu Yun, the Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, Dr Farheed Iqbal, Secretary of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and Agha Hunain Abbas Khan, Pakistan’s Acting Consul General in Chengdu.
