EU Delegation to Japan organises two cybersecurity events

Brussels: The Delegation of the EU to Japan, in partnership with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in Japan, the Japanese Industrial Cyber Security Center of Excellence and the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency held for the sixth time a joint one-week training program diving deeper on Industrial Control Systems cybersecurity with participants from the Indo-Pacific region. Industrial Control Systems manage a large part of our critical infrastructures, such energy networks or water supply and are particularly vulnerable to cybersecurity attacks given how critical they are to society and economy.

Just days after this training event, we collaborated with Keio University to the 13th International Cybersecurity Symposium which this year discussed “National Security, Economic Security, and Societal Security through Multilateral Public-Private Partnership Actions”. Cyber threats not only undermine the economic success, but also pose an increasing risk to society, our values and democracy and became clear and present national security concern. The Symposium discussed international cooperation and multi-lateral initiatives to a safer and more secure online space.
