KC-EU’s chief Ali Raza Syed conferred human rights award

Brussels: Chairman Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU) Ali Raza Syed was given a special award by the Human Rights Council of Pakistan (HRCP) for upholding human rights of oppressed Kashmiris in Europe.

The 2023 Human Rights Award for Ali Raza Syed was received by his son Syed Wasi Shah in his absence yesterday during a prestigious ceremony in the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad.

In a video message, the Chairman of the Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed thanked the Human Rights Council of Pakistan, whose administration gave him the award in recognition of his services to the human rights of Kashmiris. He appreciated the efforts of Chairman of HRCP Jamshed Hussain and his team working for human rights.

The Special Human Rights Award is a reward for the efforts of the Kashmir Council EU under the leadership of Ali Raza Syed, which has been done for the past seventeen years to highlight the Kashmir issue including rights of the people of Kashmir at the international forums, including the European Parliament and other European institutions and European countries.

Kashmir Council EU’s Chairman Ali Raza Syed said that Kashmir Council EU is raising its voice against India’s occupation of a large part of Jammu and Kashmir and worst violations of human rights of the Kashmiri people.

In his message, Ali Raza Syed further said that Kashmir Council EU has been appreciated by Human Rights Council of Pakistan for raising its voice for human rights, it is thanks to the support of Kashmir Council EU’s members, supporters and sympathizers.

European intellectual and journalist Andre Barcs was also awarded by the Human Rights Council of Pakistan for his cooperation in efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue in Europe and for raising his voice against the violation of the rights of Kashmiris by Indian authorities. Andre Barks, who is originally from Hungary, has been a long-time journalist and human rights activist at the European headquarters in Brussels.

Andre Barks also thanked the Human Rights Council of Pakistan in his message and said that he will continue to raise his voice in solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris.

Chairman Kashmir Council EU Ali Raza Syed said in his message dedicates this award to his colleagues who supported the freedom of the oppressed Kashmiris and the restoration of their basic human rights at the platform of Kashmir Council EU. This this support has been rendered at various institutions including European Parliament, the European Commission, European citizens and governments, the United Nations Human Rights Council and other peace and human rights institutions and activists around the world for presenting the case of the oppressed Kashmiris.

Kashmir Council EU is currently celebrating “Kashmir EU Week” at the European Headquarters in Brussels which started on December 5 and will continue till December 15. Kashmir Council EU has been raising the issue of Kashmir in various European countries and international forums for the past a long time. The Council’s ongoing programs through out the year in Europe include conferences, seminars, workshops, debates, meetings, press briefings, exhibitions and a million signature campaign in favor of Kashmiris in different European countries. Apart from these programs, the Kashmir Council EU continues to raise the issue of Kashmir with the authorities of major countries of the world through dialogues, discussions and correspondence.
