Islamabad: Aseefa Bhutto, daughter of President and Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Zardari, has been elected unopposed as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) for NA-207 constituency.

The Returning Officer confirmed that 11 candidates initially submitted their nomination papers for the by-election. However, after scrutiny, only four candidates, including Aseefa Bhutto, had their papers approved.

On Friday, the papers of the remaining three candidates, who were contesting against Ms Bhutto, were withdrawn.

This development comes after the NA-207 seat fell vacant following Asif Zardari’s election as the President of Pakistan.

Aseefa Bhutto’s uncontested victory solidifies her position as the newly elected MNA for NA-207 constituency.
