Gwadar: In a positive step towards creating a drug-free society, Gwadar University, in partnership with the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), hosted a significant awareness session on drug prevention.

The session aimed to address the growing concern of drug abuse among the youth and to educate the community on the harmful consequences of substance addiction.

Prominent figures including Vice-Chancellor of Gwadar University, Professor Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Joint Director of the ANF Numan Hanif and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gwadar Najeeb Ullah Pandarani, were present, each offering their valuable insights.

In his opening remarks, Professor Abdul Razzaq Sabir highlighted the crucial role of educational institutions in the fight against drug abuse. “Our responsibility is not limited to imparting knowledge; we are here to mold responsible citizens who positively impact society. Educating our youth about the dangers of drugs is an integral part of our mission to build a healthier future,” he said, pledging full support to law enforcement in this battle.

Following Professor Sabir’s address, Numan Hanif gave a detailed overview of the ANF’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.

He urged students to remain vigilant and take the lead in spreading awareness. “Education is the first line of defense, and our youth must spearhead the fight against addiction,” Mr. Hanif asserted, encouraging the audience to create a collective front against drug abuse.

SSP Gwadar Najeeb Ullah Pandarani, took the opportunity to delve into the dangers of addiction, explaining how substance use often begins innocuously with tobacco and gradually escalates into something more harmful. “Addiction has taken root in our youth, and it is alarming how quickly it can spiral out of control,” he remarked. He stressed the importance of self-discipline and urged students to stay clear of harmful substances, while also pledging to tackle the problem at its roots.

In an effort to promote healthy activities, Mr. Pandarani announced his plan to establish a Reader’s Club at the University of Gwadar, aimed at providing a constructive outlet for students.

The event concluded with a walk around the university grounds, symbolizing the collective effort toward a drug-free future for the community.
