Zhengzhou opens 51 new green spaces, bringing total area to over 9.22 million square meters

Zhengzhou: As spring bursts into in full bloom and nature comes alive, an increasing number of residents are embracing outdoor leisure close to home.

Whether it’s enjoying a leisurely stroll through nearby green spaces or setting up tents for a casual camping casual camping adventures, the opportunities to immerse oneself in nature have grown increasingly popular, providing residents a meaningful way to connect with their surroundings and enhance their overall quality of life.

On April 1, Zhengzhou Landscaping Bureau announced the opening of 51 new green spaces across the city, covering a total area of approximately 760,000 square meters. These newly established green areas are distributed across 44 parks, plazas, and green corridors within the urban districts. With this addition, Zhengzhou now boasts a total of 267 public green spaces, with a total area surpassing 9.22 million square meters.

In response to the growing demand for accessible outdoor spaces, Zhengzhou launched a pilot program in 2023 to open up public green areas across the city. This year, following a thorough review of available green areas in city parks- including idle land, lawns suitable for recreational activities, and forested spaces- along with an assessment of supporting facilities. As a result, a new batch of green zones has been opened to the public, aiming to better accommodate the increasing needs of residents for outdoor fitness, relaxation, and leisure activities.
