Pakistani Ambassador highlights expanding business horizons for entrepreneurs in China

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, Khalil Hashmi, has highlighted the growing array of business opportunities available for Pakistani entrepreneurs in China.
Speaking at high-profile business networking event in Beijing, Ambassador Hashmi, shed light on China’s rapidly evolving economic landscape and underscored the sectors where Pakistani businesses have immense potential to thrive.
The event, co-hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan and a prominent private sector partner, drew a large gathering of influential business leaders, including top executives from Pakistani engineering and construction companies operating across China.

“There are vast and untapped business opportunities in China, particularly in the areas of solar energy, electric vehicles (EVs), real estate, and engineering,” he noted.
He encouraged Pakistani entrepreneurs to actively engage with Chinese counterparts to build long-term, strategic partnerships that could benefit both sides.
The Ambassador also highlighted the exponential growth in Pakistani participation in the Chinese engineering sector, citing official data to illustrate the positive trend. “In 2023, approximately 100 Pakistani companies were operating in the engineering domain in China. That number has impressively doubled to 200 companies this year, reflecting growing confidence and success among our business community,” he stated.
The event provided a valuable platform for dialogue, collaboration, and idea exchange. Participants held detailed discussions on how to further strengthen Pakistani presence in the Chinese market, with a particular focus on technology transfer, joint ventures, and infrastructure development.
One of the most notable outcomes of the gathering was the signing of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistani and Chinese companies. These agreements aim to foster smoother cooperation in diverse sectors, facilitate investment flows, and promote knowledge sharing and innovation between the two nations.
Ambassador Hashmi reiterated the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing bilateral economic ties under the broader framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the longstanding strategic partnership between the two countries. He also urged more Pakistani firms to explore the booming Chinese market, especially in the green energy and infrastructure sectors, where demand continues to surge.
This initiative reflected Pakistan’s growing diplomatic and economic engagement with China, aimed at unlocking new commercial avenues and strengthening people-to-people and business-to-business ties under the banner of regional connectivity and cooperation.
