Islamabad: A grand ceremony was organized under the auspices of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Friday at the BISP Headquarters, to pay tribute to the remarkable success of the Pakistan Army in Operation Banyan Al-Marsoos. The event was attended by Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid, Secretary Amer Ali Ahmad, Additional Secretary Dr. Tahir Noor, all Director Generals, BISP staff, and a large number of deserving families.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid said, “Today we proudly celebrate the historic victory of our valiant armed forces against Indian aggression. Our army not only responded effectively but also lifted the pride of the entire nation. I salute the courage of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for his strong leadership during this critical time.” She also appreciated the resilience of the BISP team, who continued to serve the underprivileged segments of society despite difficult circumstances.

On this occasion, Senator Rubina Khalid paid rich tribute to Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the founder of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the visionary behind the country’s missile programme. She recalled the historic words of the people’s leader, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto: “We will fight for a thousand years, but we will not bow our heads before India.”

She stated that this spirit still guides the nation today.

The Chairperson also announced the launch of the ‘Benazir Hunarmand Program’ for BISP beneficiaries as a major step towards their empowerment and economic inclusion. “There is a huge global demand for skilled labour. Under this programme, BISP beneficiaries and their family members will receive skill training to improve their employability both within Pakistan and abroad,” she added.

Secretary Amer Ali Ahmad remarked, “We thank Almighty Allah and take pride in our armed forces. Just as the Pakistan Army is defending our borders, BISP is standing on the frontline in the fight against poverty. We are united in our mission and will continue to work together for its success.”

The ceremony also featured vibrant performances by children, including national songs and tableaus that reflected deep love for the homeland and paid heartfelt tribute to the Pakistan Army. The day was marked by a renewed sense of patriotism, pride, and hope for a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan.
