Italy’s Ambassador Marilina Armellin signs agreement with FAO

Islamabad; The Ambassador of Italy to Pakistan Marilina Armellin signed the agreement with FAO – the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations – to launch the Resilience and Adaptation Promoting Advance Actions (RAFAA) initiative.
Funded by AICS Islamabad, the intervention aims to strengthen the resilience of communities most exposed to the impacts of climate change in Pakistan, through integrated adaptation actions and more effective risk management.
The Ambassador stressed the importance of this initiative, implemented by FAO in partnership with ETS Cesvi, which confirms Italy’s commitment to environmental sustainability and climate risk reduction.

Contributing to the National Climate Adaptation Plan, the project will adopt an integrated approach to strengthen multi-hazard early warning systems, extending their effectiveness through the introduction of water quality monitoring tools and the definition of community resilience plans with early action protocols.
The 36-month initiative will focus on Sindh province and directly involve 25,000 households and more than 1 million people who will be supported through training, climate resilience interventions, nature-based solutions and crop protection insurance models.
In parallel, the project aims to strengthen institutional capacities at national, provincial and local levels, providing tools to identify risk factors and improve decision-making in disaster management.
