China tops Asian Athletics Championships

China’s Chen Yujie grabbed gold in women’s 200 meters, clocking a personal-best time of 22.97 seconds
GUMI: Chinese participants claimed four titles on closing day at the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, wrapping up the competition on Saturday with 19 gold, nine silver, and four bronze medals.
China’s Chen Yujie grabbed gold in the women’s 200 meters, clocking a personal-best time of 22.97 seconds. Shanti Pereira of Singapore finished one-hundredth of a second behind to snag silver. Chen’s compatriot Li Yuting bagged bronze in 23.23 seconds.
Chen, Li, Zhu Junying, and Liang Xiaojing later joined forces to win gold in the women’s 4×100 meter relay in a season-best 43.28 seconds. India picked up silver while Thailand collected bronze.
Hangzhou Asian Games silver medalist Mo Jiadie pulled off an epic comeback in the women’s 400 meter hurdles as she overtook Bahrain’s Oluwakemi Mujidat Adekoya in the final stretch, crossing the line in 55.31 seconds to capture gold, one-hundredth of a second ahead of the sprinter from the Gulf. India’s Vithya Ramraj pocketed bronze in 56.46 seconds.
China’s Wu Hongjiao took the women’s 800 meter title after completing the final in 2:00.08, followed by Japanese runner-up Rin Kubo and Indian third-place finisher Pooja Pooja.
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem clinched javelin gold at the championship.
He delivered an outstanding performance and sealed his victory with a superb final throw of 86.40 metres.
