BRUSSELS: Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Brussels, Ali Raza Syed has said that European Union (EU)’s authorities should not be influenced by Indian false propaganda against Pakistan.

Ali Raza Syed in a statement in Brussels said it is important to mention that an Indian delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad is currently on a three-day visit to Belgium where the delegation will meet European Union officials and Belgian government authorities.

The visit is part of New Delhi’s propaganda against Pakistan based on allegations of its involvement in terrorism, which aims to cover Indian atrocities against the people of occupied Kashmir and violations of the human rights of Kashmiris, he added.

He called upon the European Union and its member states to take immediate action to halt India’s state-sponsored terrorism in occupied Kashmir and play a proactive role in establishing lasting peace in the region and ensuring a just resolution to the Kashmir dispute.

The Council’s Chairman said, “The gross human rights violations, extra judicial killings, enforced disappearances, constant arrest of the leaders and political and human rights activities and indiscriminate use of force against peaceful protesters in occupied Kashmir are a tragedy that demands urgent global attention.”

He further emphasized, “In it talked with the delegation, the European Union must increase pressure on India to respect the fundamental rights of Kashmiris and grant them the right to self-determination in accordance with UN resolutions.”

The Chairman appealed to the European Union and EU’s Parliament and other international forums to raise the Kashmir issue and awaken the world’s conscience. “Kashmir remains one of the world’s most dangerous flashpoints, and ignoring it poses a serious threat to global peace,” he warned.

Ali Raza Syed demands that the European Union should condemn India’s state terrorism and support Kashmiri rights and push India for the implementation of UN resolutions on Kashmir and facilitation of an independent investigation into human rights abuses in Kashmir.

The Kashmir Council EU Chairman believes that only a just solution, based on the will of the Kashmiri people, can bring lasting peace and prosperity to the region.
