Chinese FM responds to query on whether China will expand more ‘green channels’ for rare-earth export approvals

In response to a media question on whether China plans to open the “green channels” to other countries or regions as it announced last Saturday it is willing to expedite exports of rare-earth minerals and magnets to Europe or open more “green channels,” and whether China would consider opening similar channels to the US, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday at a press conference that Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) has already provided a response regarding China’s export control measures on rare earths, which can be referred to. In response to concerns over China’s export controls on rare earths, a spokesperson from MOFCOM said on Saturday that rare earths and related items have both civilian and military applications, and that implementing export controls on them aligns with international practices.
