Portugal’s National Day celebrated

Islamabad: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq participated as the chief guest in a ceremony held in Islamabad to mark Portugal’s National Day.
The event was hosted by the Portuguese Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Frederico Pinheiro da Silva, who warmly welcomed the Speaker and termed his presence a symbol of growing bilateral ties between the two nations.
The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of both Portugal and Pakistan, followed by the ceremonial cake-cutting to commemorate the occasion. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq extended heartfelt congratulations to the people, government, and parliament of Portugal on their national day, offering best wishes for the country’s continued progress, prosperity, and stability.

In his remarks, Speaker Sadiq highlighted the friendly and trust-based relations between Pakistan and Portugal, noting that these ties have grown stronger over time. He expressed Pakistan’s desire to further enhance cooperation with Portugal in key areas including education, trade, culture, and parliamentary diplomacy.
The event was attended by Federal Minister for Education Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, ambassadors from various countries, senior officials, academics, business leaders, and members of civil society—reflecting the vibrant and dynamic nature of Pakistan-Portugal bilateral relations.
Ambassador Frederico Pinheiro da Silva thanked the Speaker for gracing the occasion and reaffirmed Portugal’s commitment to further strengthening its relations with Pakistan.
