Islamabad: The head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazal), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, held a significant meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, at the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.

The two leaders engaged in detailed discussions on bilateral ties and pressing regional issues, particularly the escalating Iran-Israel conflict, the JUI-F said in a statement on Tuesday afternoon.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the strategic importance of Pakistan-China relations and expressed deep concern over the intensifying violence in the Middle East.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman strongly condemned Israel’s recent attacks on Iran, terming them a clear violation of international law and an affront to Iran’s sovereignty.

The two leaders expressed grave concern over the potential for a wider conflict, advocating immediate ceasefire.

Both Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Ambassador Jiang Zaidong agreed that Israel’s strike on Iran constitutes a serious breach of international law and emphasized the urgent need for diplomacy.

They mutually endorsed an immediate ceasefire through diplomatic efforts, stressing that since Israel initiated the aggression, it must be the first to halt its attacks. In response, Iran should also cease retaliatory strikes.

The leaders also urged the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action and pass a binding resolution calling for a ceasefire to prevent further regional destabilization.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized the importance of peaceful conflict resolution, stating that diplomacy must remain the foremost instrument to maintain peace in the region.

He commended China’s leadership role in seeking to resolve the Iran-Israel conflict through dialogue, highlighting the immense risk posed to both the Middle East and Asia.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong assured China’s continued support for Pakistan’s security and sovereignty.
