Italy’s CG vows to support Pakistan’s development efforts

Karachi: Consul General (CG) Fabrizio Bielli has expressed his desire to support Pakistan’s development efforts across various sectors and continue building bridges between the people of both the countries.
He expressed the views in a meeting with Speaker Sindh Assembly Syed Awais Qadir Shah during the visit to the historic assembly building. Secretary Sindh Assembly G.M. Umar Farooq, Director General Irfan Ahmed Memon and Huma Ikramullah were also present at the occasion.

The meeting highlighted the friendly ties between Italy and Pakistan, with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation in trade, water management, cultural exchange, and institutional collaboration.
The Italian CG Fabrizio Bielli lauded Sindh’s hospitality and rich cultural traditions, noting his appreciation for the province’s diversity and heritage. He shared that the core priorities of his diplomatic mission include expanding economic opportunities, promoting cultural dialogue, and supporting sustainable development.
Bielli highlighted the potential of high-quality Italian products in Pakistani markets and expressed Italy’s willingness to support Pakistan’s development efforts across various sectors.
The Speaker proposed forming a Parliamentary Friendship Group to facilitate dialogue between lawmakers of Italy and Sindh on areas of mutual interest, especially economic cooperation and legislative practices.

Urban issues of the cities of Sindh, including Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur were discussed, along with potential collaboration in water distillation technology, trade facilitation, and hosting joint seminars to promote mutual business opportunities and innovation.
The Speaker also invited the Consul General to visit Sindh’s historic and cultural cities to further experience the province’s inclusive spirit.
To mark the occasion, Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah presented the Legacy Shield of the Sindh Assembly, along with the traditional Ajrak and Sindhi Cap, as tokens of respect and hospitality.
The envoy thanked the speaker for the warm welcome, meaningful exchange, and expressed his desire to continue building bridges between the people of Italy and Sindh.
