Islamabad: On World Population Day, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged the nation to confront the challenges of population growth with compassion, responsibility, and sustainable action.

According to the press release issued by the Media Cell Bilawal House, Chairman PPP said that Pakistan’s rapidly growing population is both a challenge and a call to action — a call that demands strong political will, widespread awareness, and inclusive policies that empower our people, particularly women and youth.  “Every child brought into this world deserves the promise of a dignified life — with access to food, shelter, education, and healthcare. Every woman deserves the right to make informed choices about her reproductive health. And every citizen must understand that population planning is not a taboo, but a tool for ensuring a better future for all,” he emphasized.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari endorsed the United Nations’ 2025 theme, “Empowering young people to create the families they want in a fair and hopeful world,” emphasizing the urgent need to ensure that youth — the largest generation in history — have the rights, tools, and opportunities to shape their futures and reproductive choices. He acknowledged that while global fertility rates are falling and fears of “population collapse” are rising, the real crisis lies in the widespread denial of reproductive agency.

He pointed out that Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto always championed policies that placed people at the heart of development. Their vision was rooted in human dignity, and today’s population discourse must be rooted in the same values — equality, justice, and opportunity. He reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to population welfare, gender equality, and youth empowerment.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called upon all tiers of government, civil society, religious leaders, media, and the private sector to play a collaborative role in raising awareness and expanding access to family planning and reproductive health services. “Let us work towards a Pakistan where every child is wanted, every mother is safe, and every person counts. On this World Population Day, we rededicate ourselves to building a future where the size of our population becomes a source of strength — not a burden. Pakistan’s future depends on our ability to plan today with wisdom and compassion. Let this World Population Day be a turning point in our national resolve,” he concluded.
