Durrani, Afghan envoy agree to strengthen Pak-Afghan trade ties

Islamabad: Former federal minister and senior politician Mohammad Ali Durrani met with Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb, in Islamabad on Monday to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
During the meeting, Durrani conveyed warm wishes from the people of Pakistan for the leadership and people of Afghanistan. He also commended the ambassador’s efforts in promoting bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to fostering brotherly and cordial ties, emphasizing the importance of enhancing people-to-people contacts to build mutual trust.
They discussed initiatives to deepen engagement between traders, chambers of commerce, and the broader business communities in both countries.
“Friendly relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are vital for economic progress not only for both nations but also for the wider region,” Durrani remarked. He stressed that enhanced trade and increased public interaction would help resolve issues and promote peace. “Trade contributes to peace,” he noted.
Ambassador Shakeeb appreciated Durrani’s constructive proposals and said Afghanistan is a significant market for Pakistani products. “We strongly desire to expand trade volume with Pakistan,” he stated, adding that Kabul welcomes all initiatives aimed at promoting commercial and economic ties.
The two leaders agreed to remain in contact and explore future avenues of cooperation.
