Pakistan, UK reaffirm commitment to enhanced bilateral cooperation during UNSC meeting

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with the UK Minister for Africa, the UN, Commonwealth, and Multilateral Affairs, Lord Collins of Highbury, on the sidelines of the UN Security Council (UNSC) Open Debate being held under Pakistan’s presidency.

During the meeting, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening Pakistan-UK cooperation in key areas such as the economy, trade, and parliamentary engagement. They also acknowledged the valuable and constructive role played by the Pakistani diaspora in the United Kingdom.

On multilateral issues, Lord Collins appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to strengthening dispute settlement mechanisms during its current presidency of the Security Council.

The two leaders also held discussions on a range of regional and global developments, including the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Expressing serious concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, they emphasized the importance of the upcoming International Conference on the Two-State Solution, scheduled for 28 July.
